I am interested in racing cross this fall after the my final triathlon in a few weeks. I have one basic question, though - do we need any type of license for cross races? I have my collegiate license that I bought in the spring, but was out of town and didn't race this summer, so don't have a normal USA cycling license. Do we need one of these, or another license to do the cross races at Jackson Park and around the area? Thanks!
the chicago cyclocross cup series uses USCF licensing, but it is the normal USCF license and not the collegiate one. So in your case you'll need to either purchase one-day licenses the day of your races, or purchase a yearly license. If I remember correctly licenses can be rather expensive, so unless you're going to do the majority of Cx races this year you may want to just do day-of licensing. thanks for the post and I hope my answer was clear enough!
